🏝️ Dugong Beach Camping Area – Whitsunday Island, QLD

📍 Description & Location

Dugong Beach is one of the largest camping zones in the Whitsundays, nestled on the western shore of Whitsunday Island in Cid Harbour—around 17 km ENE of Shute Harbour and 25 km from Airlie Beach. Encircled by lush dry rainforest and a sheltered sandy bay, this site gives a true wilderness feel with extra room for larger groups and good anchorage.

🕰️ History

Part of Whitsunday Islands National Park (established in 1944), the area is on traditional Ngaro Country.
