Paluma Range National Park, established in the 1990s and expanded significantly in 2010, is located between Townsville and Ingham within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The Mt Spec (Mount Spec) section features rainforest-clad slopes rising to nearly 1000 m, with precincts along Crystal Creek including heritage-listed Mt Spec Road and the iconic Little Crystal Creek Bridge. The area is ecologically significant, supporting southern cassowaries and other tropical rainforest species, and includes notable waterfall and creek environments.
